Limiting beliefs are formed over time as we take in information from our environment, consciously and unconsciously. We develop these beliefs through both direct experience and observation of others. You may have heard it said that “you are a product of your environment”; this is especially true when it comes to limiting beliefs.
When we observe people around us struggling with something or not achieving success, we tend to form similar beliefs about our abilities. For example, if your parents struggled financially growing up, it could lead you to believe that you can never make a lot of money or become wealthy because that’s what you saw growing up. Or if your mother always puts herself down for her appearance, it could lead you to believe that no matter how hard you try, you will never look attractive. These experiences can be deeply rooted in us and create a sense of limitation when we attempt something new or different.
These limiting beliefs can also be created from negative self-talk or from situations where we fail at something repeatedly without ever finding a successful solution. For example, if every time someone has asked you out on a date, they rejected your advances after hearing one word from your mouth (e.g., “No”), then eventually, this situation can lead to the belief that nobody will ever want to be with you regardless of what you say or do—an extremely limiting belief! The more times something like this happens to us, the deeper this belief embeds itself into our psyche and begins affecting other areas of our life, including how we view ourselves and others around us.
Limiting beliefs are formed over time as we take in information from our environment both consciously and unconsciously. As website owners and SEO newbies, we need to understand where these limiting thoughts come from so we can become aware of them and work on shifting them into positive ones instead! By understanding how these thought patterns develop within us, we can begin taking proactive steps towards cultivating healthier mindsets that help propel us towards success instead of holding us back from achieving greatness!
